General Dynamics Corp. said Friday it received a $35 million contract to produce gun barrel conversion kits for the U.S. Army.
The M2A1 quick-change barrel conversion kits contain parts used to modify the M2's heavy barrel machine gun to a different configuration. The company said the conversion kits allow soldiers to change the gun barrel in just a few seconds.
Deliveries will begin in January and will continue through December 2012.
Shares of General Dynamics rose $1.56, or 2.5 percent, to $63.54 in afternoon trading.
