Lockheed Martin Corp. on Thursday delivered its first production C-5M Super Galaxy cargo aircraft to the Air Force in Dover, Del.

Under the C-5M program, Lockheed Martin will modernize 52 of the C-5s. The program involves more than 70 changes and upgrades, including quieter engines.

The defense contractor also said it is working with Danish environmental consulting company COWI to look at ways that they can aid energy and water conservation efforts at government buildings around the world.

Lockheed and COWI — or Consultancy within Engineering, Environmental Science and Economics — initially will work on projects through the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Savings Performance Contracts Program, Lockheed said.

Lockheed said it is among the 16 companies approved by the Department of Energy to implement energy and water conservation efforts at government buildings.

Lockheed shares fell 19 cents to $71.70 in afternoon trading.
