Boeing Shows Off 787 At Paris Show

Airbus is poised to reveal a barrage of new orders on the third day of the air show while rival Boeing is to showcase its 787 jet at the event for the first time.

LE BOURGET, France (AP) -- Airbus is poised to reveal a barrage of new orders on the third day of the Paris Air Show while U.S. rival Boeing is to showcase its 787 jet at the event for the first time.

The European jet maker has already booked over $25 billion in orders and commitments for new aircraft at the aviation industry's premier showcase, including a raft of orders for its A320neo, a fuel-efficient workhorse that airlines are eager to buy because of the 15 percent fuel savings Airbus boasts the jet will achieve.

Chicago-based Boeing has announced fewer new orders in Paris, but the arrival of its 787 Dreamliner late Tuesday caused a lot of neck craning by attendees. The plane goes on demonstration Wednesday, after an expected announcement by launch customer All Nippon Airways of Japan.
