Boeing: No Plans To Sell Plant In Kansas

Spokesman for Boeing says he's unaware of any current plans to sell the aircraft maker's Integrated Defense Systems plant in Wichita.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- A spokesman for Boeing Co. says he's unaware of any current plans to sell the aircraft maker's Integrated Defense Systems plant in Wichita.

Jarrod Bartlett made the statement Thursday after the issue came up in Boeing's contract talks with the union representing 700 engineers at the Wichita plant.

The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace has asked Boeing for information on any effort to sell or divest itself of the Wichita plant.

Speculation arose this week when the head of EADS -- parent company of Europe's Airbus -- told reporters his company had canceled a major U.S. acquisition at the last minute. The EADS executive, Louis Gallois, declined to name the U.S. company.
