Sikorsky Selling Black Hawks to Bahrain

Bahrain agreed to buy nine next-generation Black Hawk military helicopters in a deal valued at $240 million.

NEW YORK (AP) - Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. said Tuesday Bahrain agreed to buy nine next-generation Black Hawk military helicopters in a deal valued at $240 million.

Sikorsky, a unit of industrial conglomerate United Technologies Corp., said the aircraft, known as UH-60Ms, were ordered at the Paris Air Show, one of the largest aerospace trade shows.

It expects to deliver the helicopters in 2010 and 2011.

Bahrain, a small kingdom in the Persian Gulf region, placed the order through the U.S. Army in a process that screens the sale of U.S. military technology to foreign governments. Sikorsky said 26 countries fly the Black Hawk helicopter.
