Embraer Sells 40 Jets To Lufthansa, JAL

The first Lufthansa Embraer 190 is scheduled for delivery in January 2009, with the JAL order set for delivery in 2008.

Embraer has signed contracts with Germany’s Lufthansa and Japan Airlines (JAL) for a combined 40 jets with delivery starting in 2008.

Lufthansa’s firm order for 30 model 190 jets was announced Monday by Embraer. The contract value is approximately one billion dollars. The current order for 15 Embraer 170 and 15 Embraer 195 jets previously placed has been cancelled.

The first Lufthansa Embraer 190 is scheduled for delivery in January 2009.

JAL has placed an order for ten model 170 jets with an option to acquire an additional five as part of the airline’s restructuring plan. The contract value, if all options are exercise, will be approximately $435 million.

The first delivery is scheduled in 2008.
