Boeing has surpassed the 500th customer order for its 787 Dreamliner, the company said Wednesday.
The 787 Dreamliner launched on April 26, 2004, and has received 514 orders by 43 customers, making it the fastest-selling commercial airplane.
Boeing expects the 787 to take its first flight in August and enter commercial service in 2008.
In November, the company announced that it would lighten the plane by 2.5 tons, improving the fuel efficiency. Boeing has also been aided by subcontractors to build the plane, such as Fuji Heavy Industries which is building the wing center section.
