TAM Purchases Additional 37 Airbus Aircraft

Brazil's TAMLinhas Aereas SA, also has option to purchase 12 additional planes; currently has 72 Airbus aircraft in operation.

Brazil's largest airline, TAMLinhas Aereas SA, has signed a contract with Airbus for the acquisition of 37 additional Airbus aircraft, as well as an option for an additional 12 planes.

TAM is the largest Airbus operator in Latin America, and currently operates a fleet of 72 Airbus aircraft, including 14 A319s, 48 A320s and ten A330-200s.

The Airbus presence in Latin America has steadily grown over the past ten years to reach 66 percent of all new sales in the region today, with a total of 236 aircraft in operation in 12 airlines.

The plane’s flight range is up to 12,500 km.

Headquartered in Toulouse, France, Airbus is an EADS company.
