Northwest Places Jet Orders With Bombardier, Embraer

Northwest placed an order for 36 Bombardier CRJ900 and 36 Embraer 175 aircraft models.

Northwest Airlines has placed an order for 36 Bombardier CRJ900 and 36 Embraer 175 aircraft models, and has taken options on an additional 96 planes.

The transaction is conditional upon Northwest receiving approval from the United States Bankruptcy Court.

The value of the orders based on CRJ900 aircraft list price would be approximately $1.35 billion. The value could rise to $5.18 billion if all options are exercised. The value of the Embraer order was not disclosed.

Concurrent with the purchase of these CRJ900 aircraft, Northwest has agreed to continue to operate all 141 CRJ200/CRJ440 aircraft as part of the Northwest Airlink operation.
