Airbus Confirms Further A380 Delays

Airbus President and CEO Christian Streiff also announced this week a new restructuring program called “Power8,” which will include a 30 percent cut in costs, primarily from job cuts.

Airbus has confirmed another delay in the production of its troubled A380 project.

The company informed its customers this week about another delay in the delivery schedule, with the first plane to be delivered in October of 2007. Thirteen more are planned for a 2008, 25 scheduled for delivery in 2009 and 45 planes delivered in 2010.

Airbus cites problems with an underestimation in finalizing the installation of the electrical harness and lack of technology knowledge of employees working on the 3D digital mock up.
