WASHINGTON (AP) - The Navy has awarded Bell Helicopter, a subsidiary of industrial conglomerate Textron, Inc., a contract worth more than $137 million for seven UH-1Y utility helicopters, one flight simulator and four trainers.
The contract, announced Thursday and awarded by the Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Md., is part of the $8 billion H-1 upgrade program.
Contract work is expected to be completed in September 2008.
