Vegan Crumbles Recalled After Complaints of Severe Illnesses

Reported symptoms include stomach pain, vomiting and liver and gallbladder damage.

A frozen meal company backed by celebrities and influencers is facing scrutiny over a product that customers say made them sick.

Reports have recently emerged that some customers of Daily Harvest who have consumed the Lentil + Leek crumbles are becoming ill.

Severe symptoms have been reported, such as stomach pain, vomiting and liver and gallbladder damage.

According to Bon Appetit, the Daily Harvest crumbles are made with lentils, quinoa, hemp seeds, butternut squash, and crimini mushrooms.

The company has asked consumers to dispose of the products and is offering a $10 credit for each bag that was purchased.

They also say that they’ve launched “an investigation with internal and external experts throughout (their) supply chain.”

A second statement adds that pathogen and toxicology results have come back negative so far, but that they’ll continue testing.
