Hay is for horses, but hydrogen is for robot horses.
At least that’s what Kawasaki Heavy Industries suggests feeding Corleo, its new four-legged vehicle designed to carry riders over rugged terrain. The company recently unveiled the prototype during the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025.

Corleo features a combined carbon-metal body and a 150cc hydrogen engine that powers its four independent legs. The front of the device includes a head-like structure that houses a heads-up display with information including speed, energy levels and maps. But it doesn’t include steering controls.
Instead, Corleo is driven by the rider shifting their weight front to back and side to side, while the vehicle’s “hooves” provide grip and stability.
Kawasaki appears to be positioning Corleo as an eco-friendly means of off-road transportation, judging by the video depicting the machine carrying riders across snowy peaks, rocky outcroppings and lush green pastures.
Many of the key specs, like top speed and range, have yet to be disclosed. But Kawasaki has plenty of time to iron out the details, since it doesn’t anticipate Corleo becoming commercially available until 2050.
