E.ON Energy Projects Acquires Energy Technology from BayPAT

The transfer agreement with E.ON Energy Projects implements BayPAT’s vision for filling industries sustainable innovation pipeline.

BayPAT, a service provider offering services in the area of technology transfer, IP management, and commercialization, has signed an agreement with E.ON Energy Projects GmbH regarding a technology improving the efficiency and flexibility of combined cycle power plants with cogeneration, developed at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and patent application filed by BayPAT.

Combined cycle power plants comprise the principles of gas turbines and steam power plants. In combination with cogeneration highest efficencies are reached. The TUM technology is based on optimizing the steam extraction of cogeneration plants equipped with gas turbines, enabling to achieve higher overall efficiencies, and increasing the flexibility of the power plant. As a result, a larger proportion of the fuel energy can be utilized as final energy in the form of process steam or heating energy. The TUM technology thus makes a decisive contribution to increase both efficiency and  flexibility, as well as to considerably save natural gas consumption, costs, and CO2 emissions.

With a selected team of experts and a customized marketing strategy, BayPAT identified in E.ON Energy Projects the perfect partner for the development and implementation of the technology in the market. The transfer agreement with E.ON Energy Projects implements BayPAT’s vision for filling industries sustainable innovation pipeline.

“We are very happy that BayPAT could make a valuable contribution to help achieve reductions in CO2emissions by providing access to a novel technology in the field of power engineering,” said Dr. Robert Phelps, BayPAT’s CEO.

"By acquiring this innovative technology from the Technical University of Munich, we can significantly increase the value contribution and sustainability of our energy solutions and our customers benefit from this! The increased flexibility of our CHP plants opens up new opportunities in constantly changing energy markets. This sets us apart from our competitors. We think it's great that BayPAT has given us access to this innovation," says Manfred Wirsing, managing director of E.ON Energy Projects GmbH.
