UPS To Add Dallas-Area Warehouse, 1,400 Employees

The new facility will give UPS an additional 1 million square feet of warehouse space to accommodate "e-commerce volume growth."

UPS plans to expand its operations in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area by leasing a new warehouse in Arlington, Texas.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the parcel giant eventually expects to employ about 1,400 people at the warehouse, which is still under construction.

The facility in the Arlington Commerce Center will give UPS an additional 1 million square feet of warehouse space to accommodate "e-commerce volume growth, particularly around holiday seasons," city officials told the paper.

The Arlington City Council is expected to consider tax abatements and grants for the project this week; those incentives would reportedly require the creation of 500 full-time jobs and 600 part-time positions by the end of 2019.

UPS currently operates distribution facilities in Mesquite, North Fort Worth and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, according to the paper.
