Volvo announced Thursday that drivers will soon be able to connect their smartwatches to their cars.
The Swedish carmaker plans to release an updated version of its Volvo On Call app that will be compatible with the Apple Watch and Android Wear.
The update, set for release in June, will extend the app's safety, remote locking and temperature control features to drivers' wrists.
The updated app can also connect to the iPad and Windows Phone, among others, and will feature a new design based on the XC90 model's user interface.
"In only a few years we have moved from a safety and security related in-car feature to a solution that allows the driver to stay connected with their car and provides many new benefits to support their everyday requirements,” said Sofia Wessman, Volvo's manager of the app.
