Footwear Factory Closing In Tennessee

A footwear factory in eastern Tennessee has begun shut down operations in a closure that will put 53 workers out of jobs.

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) -- A footwear factory in eastern Tennessee has begun shut down operations in a closure that will put 53 workers out of jobs.

The Citizen Tribune reported (https://bit.ly/Whbx0I ) that Wellco Enterprises notified employees by letter that its Morristown location will close.

Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce President Marshall Ramsey says the plant closure is expected to be complete by the end of the month.

Wellco was established in Morristown in 2010, at the 100,000 square-foot former site of BOS Automotive to manufacture army combat footwear.

Ramsey says the building is in good shape and other companies have already expressed interest in moving into the space. Ramsey declined to identify the interested parties.
