MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The University of Minnesota is recruiting students for a new master's program in medical device innovation.

The program is under the Technological Leadership Institute, part of the university's College of Science and Engineering.

The new curriculum is aimed at preparing students for managing the challenges of the medical device industry.

The medical device industry employs over 250,000 people in Minnesota. Some of the top device manufacturers have operations in Minnesota, including Medtronic, 3M, St. Jude Medical and Boston Scientific.

Daniel L. Mooradian will head up the new master's program. Mooradian says the program is designed to give students the industry knowledge needed for a competitive career advantage.
