Wabtec To Make Parts For NYC Subway Cars

Wabtec said Wednesday that it's supplying brakes and other parts for New York City subway cars. The 300 cars, expected in 2015, are being built by Canada's Bombardier in a Plattsburgh, N.Y., plant. Bombardier has a $600 million contract with New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority for the cars.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Wabtec said Wednesday that it's supplying brakes and other parts for New York City subway cars.

The 300 cars, expected in 2015, are being built by Canada's Bombardier in a Plattsburgh, N.Y., plant.

Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corp. did not disclose financial terms of its agreement with Bombardier. Bombardier has a $600 million contract with New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority for the cars.

Shares of Wabtec, which is based in Wilmerding, Pa., gained 74 cents to $89.87 in morning trading.
