Common elements of successful programs include management leadership, worker participation and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in workplaces.

Workplace deaths have risen for the third consecutive year — totaling 5,190 in 2016. Work-related medically consulted injuries totaled 4.5 million in 2016.
