Michelin North America is recalling about 6,500 Pilot Sport tires, in the U.S. and Canada, because of a defect that might lead to rapid loss of air pressure and a possible crash, as reported by Reuters.
The tire maker said its 255/35ZR20 97Y Extra Load tires were original equipment on some Jaguar XJ8 cars and were also available in the replacement market. An affected tire typically has a blister on its sidewall, which can produce vibration, possibly resulting in a loss of air pressure and causing a driver to lose control of the vehicle, said Michelin. No accidents or injuries have been reported in North America in connection with the defect. Michelin said. Most of the tires were distributed in the U.S. and fewer than 400 were distributed in Canada.Affected consumers should call Michelin at 800-847-3435 (U.S.) or 1-888-871-4444 (Canada), or visit a dealer for a free inspection and tire replacement.Michelin recalls 6,500 tires in U.S. and Canada
