Manufacturing Minute: SpaceX To Launch Next Falcon 9 Soon

In this episode, SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket is back on track.

SpaceX is looking to get its Falcon 9 rocket back on track. This is your Manufacturing Minute.

Elon Musk's spaceflight company hit a serious snag earlier this summer when an unmanned rocket carrying supplies to the International Space Station exploded en route.

The Falcon 9 was designed not only to carry cargo into space, but also to safely return the rocket to earth rather than plummet to its doom.

Initial launches showed some promise but were ultimately unsuccessful. The June mission, however, only made it a couple of minutes before the rocket disintegrated.

The failure stopped SpaceX in its tracks, jeopardizing dozens of planned launches and sparking speculation that customers could look elsewhere.

Over the weekend, however, SpaceX put a new and improved rocket through a successful test burn, and Musk said that the company should be ready to launch again in six to eight weeks.

So, What Do You Think?

Was the June explosion just a bump in the road? Should SpaceX be preparing to launch in November after initial forecasts projected a six-month delay?
