The new test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety better simulates more realistic, off-center frontal crashes. The agency began their testing with 11 luxury cars, and it wasn't a pretty picture. It's not too surprising, considering that the automakers haven't beefed up their luxury cars to counteract this specific test, but it certainly doesn't bode well for the mid-range and economy cars that will be tested soon.
