Marc Newson is a Swiss designer who has decided to take on the most iconic timepiece of all: the hourglass. The making of each hand-made piece is certainly an impressive process — the combination of fire, some stunning machinery, and some masterful talent. Once the hourglass spends some time in a kiln, it's filled with millions of stainless steel nanoballs, making pieces with 10- or 60-minute timers. Who wouldn't want one of those sitting in their study?
