Lego Man In Space

It looks like Canada has put their first man in space, although he looks a little smaller than I would have expected, and a little more blocky...

In all seriousness, a pair of Canadians, Mathew Ho and Asad Muhammad, designed what looks like a balloon-based system to bring a Lego figurine into the close reaches of space while capturing some great video. At 85,000 feet, the Lego man and camera assemply disconnected from the balloon, sending it rocketing back to the Earth's suraface. Based on comments from their Facebook page, it looks like the craft cost about $400CAD, which isn't too bad, all things considered. Perhaps when they're older, these guys can help engineer some real space craft.
