Fisker Recalling Karma Sedans To Fix Fans

Electric-car maker Fisker Automotive is recalling about 2,400 Karma sports sedans to fix cooling fans that can catch fire. The recall comes after Fisker and a private fire investigation firm finished probing an Aug. 10 fire in a Karma in Woodside, Calif. The company said the probe found that the blaze started in front of the Karma's left front wheel where a cooling fan is located.

Nissan To Recall 840,000 Vehicles

Nissan Motor Co. said Thursday it will recall around 840,000 March and Cube compact cars, including 263,942 units in Japan, produced between February 2002 and August 2004, due to faulty steering wheels. The bolts connecting the steering wheels and steering columns in the two models may not have been screwed on properly and could lead to a loss of control.

Dutch Arrest Meat Works Owner In Horse Meat Probe

Investigators from the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority arrested the man on suspicion of fraud and detained him for further questioning. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of six year's imprisonment, according to prosecutors.

GM Recalling Cadillac SUVs To Tighten Wheels

General Motors Co. is recalling more than 27,000 Cadillac SUVs worldwide because the wheels can fall off. The company says the recall affects the 2013 Cadillac SRX with 18-inch wheels. Canadian safety regulators say the wheel nuts may not have been tightened enough at the factory.

Lea Industries Recalls 63,000 Children's Beds

Lea Industries is recalling more than 63,000 children's beds in the U.S. and Canada because a support rail could break, putting users at risk of falling. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday that two injuries have been reported since 2009. There have been 22 reports of incidents involving the recalled beds in the U.S. and one in Canada.

China: Cadillac Recalling SUVs To Fix Wheel Nuts

China's product safety agency says General Motors Co.'s main Chinese joint venture is recalling Cadillac SUVs to correct a problem with nuts that hold their wheels in place. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said Friday that Shanghai GM will recall 2,653 imported Cadillac SRXs.

CPSC Recalls About 55,000 Popcorn Makers

The Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday issued a voluntary recall for about 55,000 microwave popcorn makers sold by Avon, because of the potential for fire and burns. The popcorn makers were made in Taiwan and have the item number 474-105. They consist of a clear tub and a yellow vented lid, the CPSC said.

A bipartisan group of senators wants to ban car rental companies from renting or selling vehicles to consumers that are under manufacturer recall until the defect is fixed. The senators say that while current law prohibits car dealerships from selling recalled vehicles to consumers, no law bans rental car companies from selling or renting them to unsuspecting consumers.

Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 123,308 Altima sedans because their spare tires may be over- or underinflated. Altimas from the 2013 model year that were made between March 21 and March 26 are affected. Tires that are significantly over- or underinflated can increase the risk of a crash.

Nissan is recalling more than 19,000 Nissan and Infiniti SUVs because a brake part can fail and make it harder for the driver to stop the car. The recall affects Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti JX SUVs from the 2013 model year. The automaker says an iron brake caliper part wasn't made properly and can crack or fail.

A component of an electricity generator attached to the engine could drop out due to a defective installment.
