Live Drum Spiral Conveyor Reaches New Heights
Thu, 02/02/2012 - 2:05pm
Nercon (Oshkosh, WI) has manufactured one of its tallest Live Drum Spirals, now with 17 tiers with cases that travel at 150 feet per minute. This conveyor uses a cylindrical drum that assists in driving the modular plastic belt, and, according to the company, this helps reduce low belt tension, increase elevation changes, and allow for a higher capacity. The benefit of low belt tension allows for exceptionally long runs with capacities of up to 20 pounds per linear foot of chain. Other benefits include:
- A small footprint due to its consruction, which allows for increased production and profitability.
- The ability to engineer the conveyor with various in-feed and discharge locations, which helps lower or elevate products.
- The versatility to convey packages such as jars, tubs, cups, bundles, cans, bottles, bags, pouches, cartons, totes and cases.
- Minimal maintenance due to the low number of moving parts.
