Rockwell Automation Gives OEMs And End Users More Topology Options

Wed, 07/24/2013 - 3:23pm

Rockwell Automation (Milwaukee, Wis.) has developed and released its dual port EtherNet/IP communication adapter — the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 525 AC drive — to offer more connectivity options and device level ring (DLR) functionality over EtherNet/IP networks. The company says this card provides OEMs and end users the option of using a wide range of topologies, including ring, linear and star, while also helping to lower the total cost of machine design and ownership. Less wiring, reduced hardware and reduced time are all touted benefits of the new adapter. In addition, the DLR technology can help reduce configuration time and costs by minimizing the number of managed switches and allowing users to create a single network ring that connects all components at the device level.
