Rockwell Automation Expands Power Quality Capabilities

Milwaukee, Wis. (Manufacturing.net) — Rockwell Automation has announced an expansion to its Allen-Bradley power-quality portfolio to include the i-Sense monitoring solution, the i-Grid service and its DySC dynamic sag corrector. The company says that these solutions help OEMs and end users identify and mitigate power issues to improve uptime and productivity.

The company’s i-Sense voltage monitors read incoming power for the entire facility while providing data that highlights voltage-based power events. Analysis of the data can reveal any relationships between voltage sags and downtime situations, and help technicians resume operations with minimal mean time to repair (MTTR).

The i-Grid service logs, analyzes and corroborates i-Sense data via an Ethernet or modem connection to confirm if power-quality issues were the result of a grid event. It’s capable of sending notifications to facility managers that a power event occurred, allowing them to respond immediately.

And the DySC dynamic sag corrected uses double-conversion inverter technology to protect against brief voltage sags and momentary outages. It’s scalable between 0.25 kVA to 2,000 kVA, offering protection to individual machines or across an entire facility. There is 100 percent sag protection in a compact size, and without batteries, compressors, pumps or flywheel bearings.

Scott Harlan, product manager for power-quality portfolio, Rockwell Automation said in a statement: “Power-quality issues are responsible for a significant amount of unplanned downtime, yet power quality is often overlooked as a key productivity variable. Our new monitoring and mitigation solutions help identify where and when voltage sags and outages occur, and offer corrective actions to improve performance.”
