BMW Launching New 4 Series Coupe Model In Japan In June

BMW Japan Corp. said Wednesday it will launch the new four-door 4 Series Gran Coupe on June 21 in Japan as part of its plan to introduce more than 10 new models to the country in 2014.

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- BMW Japan Corp. said Wednesday it will launch the new four-door 4 Series Gran Coupe on June 21 in Japan as part of its plan to introduce more than 10 new models to the country in 2014.

The vehicle is BMW's first "premium middle class" coupe with four doors, said the company, which plans to spur demand with a series of new model launches.

BMW Japan President Alan Harris told a press conference in Tokyo that the company saw record sales in Japan in 2013 and that momentum is continuing to increase this year, due to a last-minute buying spree before the sales tax hike in April to 8 percent from 5 percent, as well as robust demand for recently introduced vehicles including the new Mini model.

He added he believes the introduction of the new Gran Coupe will "further accelerate our sales in the market."

The gasoline-powered vehicle's retail prices range from 5.16 million yen to 8.03 million yen.
