ATLANTA (AP) -- Gov. Nathan Deal says a company based in Dubai plans to build a manufacturing plant in Murray County with the goal of creating 200 jobs over the next three years.

Deal said Wednesday the expansion planned by Mattex "speaks to the continued revitalization of the floor covering industry in northwest Georgia."

Mattex is headquartered in Dubai and is a leading provider of carpet backings and other textiles. The company has four facilities in the Middle East and plans to invest $60 million in its first U.S. plant. The company, which is building the facility to be closer to its North American markets, plans to start construction this summer and begin operations in 2014.

Information on what state tax incentives may have been provided to the company was not immediately available.
