Blodgett Corp. To Stay In Vermont Factory

Commercial oven maker says manufacturing capacity at its current Burlington location has been expanded and there is no need to move.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) -- One of Burlington's major manufacturing employers says it is staying in its factory next to Lake Champlain in the city's south end.

That word comes almost two years after officials with commercial oven maker Blodgett Corp. indicated the lakeside location wasn't big enough to handle the company's expansion needs.

Now Blodgett President Gary Mick tells the Burlington Free Press the company has no significant plans to move.

Mick says Blodgett's manufacturing capacity at its current location has been expanded.

The issue of Blodgett's future was highlighted last month when General Dynamics, located next to Blodgett, announced it would move its operation to Williston.

Blodgett was founded in Burlington in 1948. In 2008 the company employed 170 people.
