Volvo Aero Expanding Connecticut Plant

Company will also nearly double workforce.

Volvo Aero announced Monday that it is expanding facilities at its Aero-Craft subsidiary in Newington, Conn. by adding 27,000 square feet to its existing 40,000 square feet plant and office building. It will also nearly double its workforce.

The $15.3 million investment will be partially funded through Connecticut and the town of Newington.

The Newington facility currently employees 52 people, and Volvo Aero expects to add 40 more employees.

The expanded plant will produce fan cases for the GE90 aero engine for the Boeing 777.
