Autonomous driving has been an ongoing development since the early 1900s, and its importance continues to grow. As automated vehicles near a viable level of sophistication, a group of companies have emerged to lead the front on self-driving innovation.
The Navigant Research Leaderboard Report examined 18 autonomous vehicle influencers "on 10 key critera: vision; go-to market strategy; partners; production strategy; technology; sales, marketing, and distribution; product capability; product quality and reliability; product portfolio; and staying power."
Using this system, each company was surveyed, scored, and given an overall ranking. According to the study, the automotive pioneer Ford edges ahead of the pack in the self-driving market.
Even though GM ranks highest in overall Execution, Ford’s supreme Strategy score gives it the overall top spot. According to the results, the rest of the rankings are as follows:

Tesla, Toytoa, PSA, and ZF relegated to the lesser ranked Contenders category, whereas Honda, nuTonomy, Baidu, and Uber fell below the rest into the Challengers subsection.
