FedEx Rolls Out Small Business E-Commerce Service

The initiative aims to take advantage of the growth of e-commerce, which accounted for an estimated $2 trillion in retail sales last year.

FedEx this week announced a new e-commerce platform targeting small and medium-sized businesses.

Officials said that FedEx Fulfillment, launched by logistics subsidiary FedEx Supply Chain, would provide its clients "complete visibility," including product tracking and analysis of customer behavior and trends.

The platform will also offer a simple way for smaller businesses to integrate multiple selling channels and manage inventory.

“Moving goods efficiently and reliably is what we do best," FedEx Express e-commerce senior vice president Carl Asmus said in a statement. "By teaming up with FedEx Supply Chain and utilizing the world-renowned FedEx networks, customers can focus less on fulfillment and logistics challenges and more on growing their businesses.”

The company added that the service will provide one of the latest cut-off times for same-day delivery in the shipping industry, along with two-day ground shipping to a majority of the U.S. population and a "hassle-free" return process.

The initiative aims to increasingly take advantage of the growth of e-commerce, which accounted for an estimated $2 trillion in retail sales last year and is expected to more than double by 2020.
