Natural foods chain Whole Foods is recalling organic Roquefort cheese due to possible listeria contamination.

Routine sampling by U.S. Food and Drug Administration inspectors found listeria monocytogenes in an uncut wheel of Papillon Organic Roquefort cheese.

The recall affects all sell by dates of the cheese, which is sold in clear plastic wrap and marked with Whole Foods' scale labels beginning with the PLU 029536.

Whole Foods locations will post signs on store shelves to notify shoppers about the recall; affected customers can receive a full refund with a receipt.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause fever, headache, stiffness and gastrointestinal problems. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths and can be fatal to young children, the elderly and others with weakened immune systems.

No illnesses or infections from the cheese have been reported thus far, the FDA said.
