Today, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the new “Ludicrous Mode” for the high-performance version of the company’s Model S electric car.

Musk stated that the upgraded Model S will be able to go zero to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, which will cost $10,000 for new buyers whose base price starts at a cool $70,000. Musk also noted that Tesla will upgrade the battery pack of the Model S to improve its range.

Musk said that this new mode will push the vehicle to 1.1Gs while accelerating, which is apparently “faster than falling.”

In addition to breaking Tesla’s news, Musk took a moment to say that there will also be a much-awaited discussion on Monday regarding SpaceX’s rockets. More than likely, this event will circle around the current ongoing investigation into the cause of the Falcon 9 rocket explosion.
