Fiat Chrysler says its U.S. sales rose 4 percent in May on strong demand for its Jeep and Ram brands.
FCA's sales totaled 202,227 vehicles. It was the company's best May since 2005.
Jeep sales rose 13 percent. The brand is benefiting from U.S. buyers' shift from cars to SUVs. Jeep Cherokee SUV sales rose 23 percent in May, and the new Renegade SUV also sold well.
Ram brand sales jumped 12 percent. Sales of FCA's best-seller, the Ram pickup, rose 8 percent, while sales of Ram's ProMaster van more than doubled.
Chrysler brand sales rose on strong demand for the 200 sedan. Dodge and Fiat brand sales fell.
Automakers report May sales Tuesday. Overall sales are expected to fall slightly from last May, when sales hit a nine-year high.
