Hong Kong Manufacturers to Tour U.S. Next Month

A coalition of manufacturing and tech companies will embark on a 13-day economic mission.

A coalition of manufacturing and tech companies from Hong Kong will travel from coast to coast next month as part of a 13-day economic mission.

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council announced the 23-member delegation on Thursday, which will explore partnership and collaboration opportunities with U.S. companies and organizations from June 9-21.

“American and Hong Kong companies have much to explore in terms of joint ventures, strategic alliances, contract manufacturing and tech transfer/commercialization," mission leader Roy Chung, the co-founder of power tool manufacturer TechTronics Industries, said in a statement.

In addition to TTI, participating companies include Coulomb Electronics, Suga International Holdings, Fook Tin Group Holdings, Ka Shui International Holdings, Jing Mei Group, Chartermate International and Pino Aliprandini.

Other Hong Kong organizations joining the tour include Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the Nano and Advanced Materials Institute and the Logistics and Supply Chain Management R&D Centre.

The delegation will visit, among others, Stratasys, Qualcomm and UC-San Diego in California, Argonne National Labs and the International Institute for Nanotechnology in Illinois, Rockwell Automation, Johnson Controls and Harley-Davidson in Wisconsin and the National Institute for Health and National Institute Standards & Technology in Maryland.

The tour coincides with the June 10 “Think Asia, Think Hong Kong” event in Chicago, the city's largest promotional effort in the U.S.

Hong Kong is the nation’s 18th largest goods trading partner and ninth-largest goods export market. U.S. exports to the city totaled $51 billion in 2013.
