Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that Advanced Atomization Technologies, the joint venture between Parker Aerospace and GE Aviation, will expand and update its manufacturing facility and office building to accommodate an increased demand for work. New engine programs are making for a dramatic production ramp-up, with the company planning to hire 80-100 additional team members over the next five years.

“Today's announcement that Advanced Atomization Technologies is expanding is another example of how we are working hard to create jobs and bring back the Upstate economy,” Governor Cuomo said. “We are changing the tone in New York and improving our state’s economic climate -- making it a more attractive place for businesses to hire, invest, and grow their operations.”

Lieutenant Governor Robert J. Duffy said, "With another company choosing to expand in the Finger Lakes, Advanced Atomization Technologies will bring new jobs and opportunities to the region. This announcement is the latest in a series of success stories that we have seen across New York, and I thank Governor Cuomo for his vision to bring back every part of Upstate. I thank Advanced Atomization Technologies for choosing to invest here and create jobs, which will greatly benefit for this community in the years to come."

The existing Advanced Atomization Technologies facility will be completely refurbished and transformed into a state-of-the-art production facility, adding more than $20 million in new advanced manufacturing equipment. The new 28,000 square foot building being constructed will include office space, teaming rooms, a multi-purpose and lunch room and an exercise facility, as well as a larger and improved parking lot. Construction will begin in October 2014 and is expected to be completed in February 2016.

Advanced Atomization Technologies General Manager David Overholt said, “We are excited about this significant facility upgrade. We are committed to the Clyde area and value our experienced workforce who are experts in the production of fuel nozzles. We are proud to partner with the community and grateful for its help in obtaining grants so that we can grow and develop our business.”

New York State will provide up to $900,000 in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits in return for Advanced Atomization Technologies' job creation commitments. Empire State Development is providing a $500,000 capital grant from the state’s Economic Transformation Program. This program supports the economies of communities affected by the closure of certain correctional and juvenile justice facilities, in this case Butler Correctional Facility. Wayne County will provide assistance in the form of a Payment in Lieu of Taxes on the added value of the addition to the facility. Additionally, the Wayne County Board of Supervisors has authorized assistance of up to $100,000 for public infrastructure. This will be matched by cash or in-kind services from Advanced Atomization Technologies and the local municipalities, the Village of Clyde and Town of Galen.

Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Kenneth Adams said, “New York State provides businesses like Advanced Atomization Technologies with the financial leverage needed to expand and hire new employees so that that they can turn their innovation into job creation.”

Advanced Atomization Technologies is headquartered and performs all of its manufacturing, including the GEnx, LEAP and GE9X, in Clyde, New York, currently employing 350 assemblers, technicians, engineers and other professionals. Its fuel nozzles are installed on almost every commercial aviation and industrial engine manufactured by GE Aviation. Aftermarket support for the nozzles is performed in Glendale, Arizona; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Petropolis, Brazil.

The LEAP fuel atomization nozzle is one of the most advanced fuel nozzles used in modern propulsion today. The nozzle’s tip is manufactured at a new GE Aviation facility in Auburn, Alabama, using a 3-D additive technique. The tip is then sent to Advanced Atomization Technologies to be incorporated into the nozzle’s assembly. The nozzle is assembled and tested at Advanced Atomization Technologies’ Clyde facility using advanced manufacturing processes.

Senator Michael Nozzolio said, “As a long-time advocate of job growth and industrial development, I am confident that Advanced Atomization Technologies will successfully build on the foundation set by Parker Hannifin. The skills needed in the jobs at Advanced Atomization Technologies emphasize our need for education focused on preparing individuals for technology coupled with basic understanding of math and science, and the ability to communicate. The Economic Transformation Program funds provided by New York State, along with the other assistance from the local communities, will help add high skilled, good paying jobs in Clyde, offering new and greater opportunities for residents of Wayne County.”

Assemblyman Bob Oaks said, “Parker Hannifin Corporation has long been a vibrant part of the Wayne County community. I am extremely pleased that Advanced Atomization Technologies will continue to grow and that their expansion project will retain 317 jobs and add another 87 to the region’s workforce. The extremely finite measuring and quality control at Advanced Atomization Technologies, keeps at the top of aerospace and high-technology markets.”

Wayne County Board of Supervisors Chairman James D. Hoffman said, “The expansion retains one of our premier technology companies and also solidifies their base for future economic expansions.”

Village of Clyde Mayor Gerald Fremouw said, “The teamwork showed by the State, Wayne County, the Town of Galen, the WC IDA, Advanced Atomization Technologies and the Village exemplifies how, when everyone participates, great projects happen. We, the Clyde community, helped build Parker Hannifin here and now hope to help build the future with Advanced Atomization Technologies.”

Town of Galen Supervisor Steve Groat said, “The Town of Galen is extremely pleased that, through the efforts of all parties, Advanced Atomization Technologies, the joint venture between Parker and GE, has determined to expand their plant here in the Village of Clyde. The investment in the plant and the equipment shows great commitment to grow here and the job creation and retention is most important.”

Wayne County IDA Executive Director Peg Churchill said, “This company—its management and employees—has great heart and has over the years, prior to the joint venture, been a key component and supporter of the community. We are extremely pleased that Advanced Atomization Technologies has determined to remain here, building its high-tech future on its strong history at this site.”

Wayne County Economic Development Department Director Bob McNary added that the county wholeheartedly endorsed the expansion, as evidenced by the Board of Supervisors favorable recommendation and endorsement of the $500,000 in Economic Transformation Program grant funds and the award of up to $100,000 in County Industrial Site funds for public infrastructure improvements. He stated that the County was glad that these incentives could be made available, as the competition from sites in two other states was very aggressive.
