GE Oil & Gas, a division of Fortune 500 company General Electric, has selected Jacksonville for its advanced manufacturing facility for the design, engineering, and manufacturing of GE’s Mooney regulators and Becker control valves, among other oil and gas industry products.
Announced by JAXUSA Partnership and other state and city officials, GE Oil & Gas will create 500 new jobs over the next three years at its manufacturing plant and will invest up to $91 million in capital investments, real estate construction and expenditures on manufacturing equipment.
GE Oil & Gas sought to establish an advanced manufacturing operation in the Southeastern United States and chose Jacksonville for its manufacturing facility due to the city’s labor pool, quality of life, tax structure, diversified business economy, and its deep-water port - JAXPORT.
The new 500,000-square-foot facility for GE Oil & Gas will operate at AllianceFlorida at Cecil Commerce Center, one of the largest industrial parks in Florida. The company’s presence will produce follow-up supply chain investment and other non-quantifiable benefits, such as training and community investments.
A world leader in advanced technologies and services for all segments of oil and gas, GE Oil & Gas has 43,000 employees in more than 100 countries supporting customers across the industry – from extraction to transportation to end use. The company supplies equipment used from drilling through production, liquefied natural gas and pipeline compression, pipeline inspection, downstream processing in refineries and petrochemical plants.
In 2013, the Florida sales tax on manufacturing equipment was eliminated so that manufacturing companies could operate more efficiently in the state, another reason GE Oil & Gas selected Jacksonville for its manufacturing operations.
