Epicor Software Corporation, a global leader in business software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail, and services organizations, today announced the integration between its Epicor Mattec manufacturing execution system (MES) and next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, Epicor ERP version 10, at the 2014 International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago. Out-of-the-box integration radically simplifies deployment and delivers faster time to value so users can quickly unlock the power of a closed-loop enterprise system that connects the top floor to the shop floor in real time.

Epicor Mattec MES is an out-of-the-box configurable MES solution designed to meet the operational challenges in manufacturing including rubber and plastics, metals, and automotive industries. The solution offers a comprehensive set of MES capabilities for production scheduling, machine operation and maintenance, quality management, and real-time analytics to monitor machines and analyze machine-related data such as overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), run rates, scrap, yield, and energy consumption. The system captures data directly from machines and operators, and delivers real-time production metrics and real-time operations analytics in an easy-to-digest visual manner. Discrete manufacturers use Mattec MES to improve on-time delivery, quality, reduce scrap, and boost product throughput, helping them deliver the right product, at the right time, at the right cost.

"One of the common challenges manufacturing organizations face is the need to effectively connect planning and scheduling data from their ERP system with shop floor realities in one centralized system," said Tom Muth, senior manager, product marketing, Epicor MES. "With the integration of Epicor ERP and Mattec MES customers can achieve a holistic view of their business processes and core production, and better utilize shop floor data that is crucial for improving operational efficiency and maximizing profitable manufacturing outcomes."

In the spring, Epicor introduced ERP version 10 built on agile technology that eliminates complexity to make ERP easier to use, more collaborative, and more responsive than ever before. Epicor ERP is designed to support today's business imperatives: social collaboration, deployment flexibility, accelerated performance, and broad device accessibility.

Real-time reconciliation of information between Epicor ERP and Mattec MES ensures data integrity for supporting accurate scheduling, planning, monitoring, resourcing, and costing. The out-of-the box integration spans structural data, job scheduling and production reporting, effectively pulling data into a seamless bi-directional information environment. Users will benefit significantly from improvements in promise to order, labor and equipment utilization, and business intelligence as a result of tighter integration and real-time feedback between Epicor ERP and Mattec MES. In addition, a real-time closed-loop between the business systems and the plant floor provides an accurate up-to-the-minute view of machine and production availability for improving operational effectiveness and responsiveness.
