Duke Energy says it plans to build a solar plant in Bladen County.

The Fayetteville Observer reports the utility said Arizona-based Phoenix Solar is the contractor, and the solar panels will be manufactured by Yingli Solar.

A Duke spokesman said plans call for construction to begin in early 2015 and be completed by the end of the year.

Duke announced last week plans to spend $250 million building three solar farms in North Carolina, including one in Bladen County. Duke will spend about $250 million additionally to buy power from five more solar plans planned to be built in the state.

The Bladen County plant will generate about 48,000 megawatt hours of energy annually.
