Northwest Analytics (NWA), a leading provider of manufacturing intelligence solutions, announced today that Lloyd Colegrove, data services director of NWA customer, The Dow Chemical Company, will be a featured speaker at the ARC 5th Annual China Forum on September 25, 2014 in Beijing, China.

Mr. Colegrove's presentation will focus on the platform behind Dow's Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligence (EMI) initiative, and the visioning process that led to the initial steps of implementation. He will discuss the collective use of Dow's manufacturing systems to support both manufacturing and business-related decisions, a direct result of deploying NWA's Focus EMI®.

"As Mr. Colegrove noted at the start of Dow's deployment, manufacturers are drowning in data but starving for information," said Peter Guilfoyle, vice president of marketing for NWA. "But NWA Focus EMI is helping Dow reverse that trend, delivering immediate results and an average savings of $1 million to $2 million for each plant every year."

Dow quickly transitioned from a state of being hampered by data silos to being able to quickly access the information needed to monitor, understand, and control manufacturing processes.

NWA Focus EMI enabled Dow to easily access data directly from existing sources without duplicating the data, passing it through a global analytics layer, and then visualizing the critical process information in real time. Mr. Guilfoyle says other manufacturers can benefit from hearing about Dow's approach to EMI, as the company used it to identify changes in raw materials and intervene before they entered the production line, as well as prevent losses of fresh catalyst.

Mr. Guilfoyle will also present at the conference. He will focus on how manufacturers can move from a reactive production approach of "inspect and reject" to a proactive operational dynamic centered on "predict and prevent."

ARC's 5th Annual China Forum, supported by the China Instrument and Control Society, will focus on key issues that are on top of mind for industrial end users and automation suppliers in China over the next five years. Major topics covered will include cyber security, control system lifecycle management and service strategies, industrial energy optimization, industrial analytics, Industrial Ethernet of Things, cloud computing solutions, asset information management, mobility and wireless solutions, intelligent field instruments and control valves, and other hot topics. The ARC Advisory Group is the leading market research and advisory firm for industry and infrastructure.
