A company that makes aluminum wheels for cars and other vehicles says it will shut down its manufacturing plant in Rogers, eliminating 500 jobs.

Superior Industries International Inc. announced Wednesday that it expects to cease operations at the Rogers plant by the end of this year. Work done at the plant will be shifted to other Superior facilities in Fayetteville and in Chihuahua, Mexico.

The company says the closure is expected to save the company $15 million in year-over-year labor costs. Superior President and CEO Dan Stebbins says the closure comes after a "comprehensive review."

Superior produces aluminum wheels at five plants in the United States and Mexico. The company is a supplier to many automakers, including Ford, General Motors, Toyota and Nissan.
