Wed, 06/25/2014 - 7:48am

YOKOHAMA (Kyodo) -- Nissan Motor Co. said Tuesday that Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn earned 995 million yen in the 2013 business year ended in March, up from 988 million yen the previous year, adding to the view he will remain the highest-paid executive among listed companies in Japan.

Ghosn, who also received the highest compensation in both fiscal 2009 and 2010, and was the second-highest paid in fiscal 2011, normally leaves his counterparts at domestic rival carmakers far behind.

Honda Motor Co. said last week that President Takanobu Ito was paid 150 million yen in compensation for fiscal 2013. Meanwhile, Toyota Motor Corp. President Akio Toyoda received 184 million yen in fiscal 2012.

The announcement by Nissan came at its annual meeting of shareholders held in Yokohama.

Listed firms in Japan have been obliged since fiscal 2009 to disclose all executive compensation over 100 million yen.
