InSinkErator Plans $65M Expansion

The Racine company best known for its garbage disposers is opening another manufacturing plant in Kenosha and will upgrade its operations in Racine.

RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- The Racine company best known for its garbage disposers is opening another manufacturing plant in Kenosha and will upgrade its operations in Racine.

InSinkErator says it will invest $65 million in the expansion. Company president Tim Ferry says InSinkErator has committed to adding at least 165 jobs in the next four years in return for $15 million in state tax credits.

The company will increase manufacturing by leasing a building in Kenosha's business park. The first production line in the Kenosha facility is expected to be running by mid-2015. It will also invest nearly $44 million to renovate its Racine facility and buy new equipment.

InSinkErator's website says it invented food waste disposers in 1927 and is currently the world's largest manufacturer of disposers and hot water dispensers for home and commercial use.
