South Carolina-based gun manufacturer Palmetto State Armory (PSA) has announced plans to expand its facility in Lexington, S.C., with a $4.2 million investment. The expansion will increase the manufacturing capacity with an additional 168,000 square feet of space, and will serve as the hub operations for the locally-owned-and-operated company.

As part of the expansion plan, the company will create 300 new jobs over the next three years to fill out the additional space and production machinery. The company currently employs 230 workers, which means this recent investment will more than double its workforce.

Gov. Nikki Haley said, “Palmetto State Armory is a valued member of South Carolina's thriving business community and we celebrate their decision to continue to grow their economic footprint in our state. Their $4.2 million investment in Lexington County, creating 300 new jobs, will have a significant impact on our growing workforce.”

PSA is said to have considered possible locations for this new manufacturing center all across the Southeast, but ultimately decided it would continue its partnership with South Carolina.

Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said, “South Carolina is known for making things, and making them well. PSA's decision to expand its production operations here builds on our state's manufacturing renaissance and creates well-paying jobs that will have an impact in Lexington County now and for years to come.”

Johnny Jeffcoat, chairman of Lexington County Council added: “We are pleased that Palmetto State Armory has decided to expand in Lexington County. The strong workforce in the county will provide the company with the skills and manpower necessary to continue to grow its manufacturing operations and further its warehousing capabilities. The county's pro-business philosophy also serves as a driving force to continued development in this area of the county.”

Interested applicants can send resumes to PSA's HR Director Kim Miranda for future consideration at Kim.Miranda@palmettostatearmory.com.
