Tennant Company Major Industrial Design Award

Mon, 03/24/2014 - 2:56pm

Tennant Company has announced that it was the recipient of a 2013 GOOD DESIGN™ Award for the industrial design of its T12 compact rider scrubber. GOOD DESIGN is the oldest and most respective program for design excellence, and has a long history of acknowledging the successes in industry and consumer devices, with previous awards going to companies like BMW and Apple.

As far as the T12 design goes, John Ickes, the senior principal industrial designer for Tennant Company, says it was the result of an effort to think outside of traditional cleaning machine design. He says, “The T12 design emerged from a challenge put forth by our CEO, Chris Killingstad, to start with a clean sheet of paper and think beyond any boundaries. Taking on the challenge and leaving nothing on the table is how good design is born and how Tennant continues to create innovative products that attempt to exceed expectations of our customers.”

The T12 offers more than good looks, though. It offers a high-performance level of cleaning and is highly maneuverable, meaning it can reach tight spaces and get around sharp corners, which reduces cleaning time. The Tennant squeegee and vacuum system ensures that the clean floors are essentially dry and slip-free, and it operates at a low dBA level to allow cleaning at any time. The company’s ec-H20 technology can scrub up to three times longer with a single tank of water and use up to 70 percent less water than conventional floor scrubbing methods.
