Defense Company BAE Says 135 Losing Jobs In Pa.
YORK, Pa. (AP) -- Global defense contractor BAE Systems PLC says it us cutting 135 jobs at its York facility over the next three months.
The company said Monday that the York plant is nearing the lowest production levels in its 30-plus year history.
A spokesman for BAE said approximately one-third of the layoffs are because of current military contracts ending and the remainder is related to a proposed three-year manufacturing shutdown of Bradley armored tanks.
BAE said it is working with the Army to maintain as much of the York facility as possible.
